![]() August 15, 2025 News release The Rejoin EU Party is seeking a candidate to stand in a council ward by-election taking place in Rolvenden & Tenterden West ward in Ashford, Kent, on Thursday September 25. Like many other places in Kent, Ashford has been hit by Brexit problems, not least of which is the loss of Eurostar services at the local railway station, which the international train operator has blamed partly on Brexit-related border control issues (see here). The issues are only likely to get worse as the EU brings in its new ETIAS entry/exit border control system in October. To be eligible to stand in the election, you need to live/be registered to vote in the area covered by Ashford Borough Council, although you don’t need to live in the ward in which the election is taking place. No deposit is needed for local council by-elections such as this, just a couple of nomination signatures. We can offer help/advice to register by the nomination deadline (August 29 at 4pm) if we have someone prepared to stand. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please let us know by emailing us at admin@therejoineuparty.com ASAP. For more details about standing as a Rejoin EU Party candidate, either in Ashford or elsewhere, see the section “standing as a candidate” on the volunteering page on our website (click on the button below). We’re looking for prospective candidates across the country, particularly for the local council elections next May, so please do contact us if you’re interested. Information about the Ashford by-election is available here. Many thanks and kind regards, The Rejoin EU Party admin team Find out more ![]() Copyright (C) 2025 Rejoin EU Party. All rights reserved.
