Write to your MP to tell them rejoining the EU is a top priority
Tell Westminster we need to “go all the way”
Brexit has failed. It’s made Britain poorer, less safe and more divided. The promises of 2016 have been exposed as fantasy, while ordinary people face higher prices and lost rights and opportunities.
The Rejoin EU Party welcomes Andy Burnham’s Labour conference speech in which he said rejoining could be an option for Britain’s future relationship with the EU.
However, so far, Labour has simply tinkered at the edges. Rejoining in a decade or more is unacceptable – we need the benefits it would bring now. We don’t want any more delays or half-measures – we need a clear commitment to start formal negotiations to rejoin the EU immediately.
As well as boosting the economy, rejoining will restore our rights and freedoms and strengthen the UK’s security and voice in the world.
If you agree, take action by clicking on the link to the WriteToThem website below. Tell your MP Brexit has failed and we need to rejoin now.
If you need ideas about what to write, below are some handy bullet points on which you can base a letter. Please personalise your letters as much as possible to maximise the chances of your MP taking action. Please also let us know what they say in reply by emailing admin@therejoineuparty.com

* Brexit has failed and cost the UK up to 8% of potential extra national income per head, according to economists. Rejoining could boost the economy by £150bn.
* So-called “resets” and tinkering around the edges won’t work. Half-measures like rejoining the single market and customs union will leave us as a rule-taker, which is politically unsustainable;
* Labour has nothing to fear from “going all the way” and rejoining. Polls now show consistent majorities in favour of rejoining;
* The government needs to start reaccession talks with Brussels now whilst doing whatever it can in the meantime to boost the economy, such as rejoining EU economic and political structures where possible;
* Politicians should accept the UK has made a mistake and show the humility, courage and vision to put it right;
* If Labour did that, polls show they could secure a comfortable majority at the next election.

“Rejoining is the only politically sustainable long-term option available to the government because any other – such as just rejoining the single market and/or customs union – would leave the UK as a rule-taker.” – Rejoin EU Party candidate in the 2026 Clacton by-election and former MEP, John Stevens
“Labour needs to start immediate and substantive reaccession talks with the EU now if it wants to maximise its chances of winning the next election.
“British negotiators could ask for interim membership of the SM and CU as soon as possible while laying the groundwork for full membership at the same time. The issue is urgent and there’s no time to waste.” – Rejoin EU Party leader and former MEP Brendan Donnelly
