Standing as a candidate
How to stand in an election for the Rejoin EU Party
Standing in an election is an enjoyable and worthwhile exercise and we hope to make it as easy as possible. If you would like to stand as a Rejoin EU Party candidate in a local council by-election, a regional mayoral/assembly election, a parliamentary by-election or a general election, please email us at admin@therejoineuparty.com with some brief details about yourself and why and where you want to stand and we’ll be in touch. You can also indicate your interest by doing our survey (link below). In the meantime, please check your eligibility to stand and ability to meet other criteria by reading the Electoral Commission guidance for candidates & agents.
To be a Rejoin EU Party candidate, the only conditions (in addition to those of the Electoral Commission) are that you agree to support and campaign for re-joining the EU and to refrain from discriminating against anyone on the grounds of age, colour, creed, disability, gender identity, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.
Our candidates are free to adopt individual positions on issues specific to the constituency in which they’re campaigning, or on broader issues not directly related to the EU, provided they’re reasonable, legal and complement/don’t conflict with the objectives, strategy and spirit of the party’s main policy of restoring our EU membership, as outlined in our Mission Statement and 2024 General Election manifesto.
You can find out about upcoming by-elections in your area here. You can also email your local council’s electoral-services department, whose address should be on the council’s website, and ask to be put on their mailing list, if they have one, to be notified of forthcoming elections.
