*News update from John Stevens, Rejoin EU Party candidate, Runcorn & Helsby by-election*
Commenting on the recent decision (link below) to increase tolls on the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges, John Stevens, Rejoin EU Party candidate in the Runcorn & Helsby by-election, said: “Brexit has hit national, regional and local public finances, forcing local authorities and others to fill the gap by increasing charges such as the bridge tolls in Runcorn. In particular, central government hasn’t replaced EU regional funding that ended when the UK left the EU because of the hit to national tax revenue caused by Brexit.”
