As someone who’s worked across Scotland, I’ve seen how Brexit has made everyday life harder, from travel restrictions to the rising cost of living and even saving for a home. It’s frustrating to watch the UK struggle as a whole, but as a Scottish woman who voted to Remain and for Independence, I’m especially saddened by the loss of rights and the challenges Brexit has brought |
As a musician it's now far more difficult to secure work in the EU. As a fundraiser more smaller companies are able to give to charities because of the extra costs. |
Higher food prices energy costs and goods |
unacceptable blocks to freedom of movement |
Difficulties seeing relatives in the EU - including enabling their spouses to live in the UK. |
Rising prices. Redundancy. Restricted movement. |
My husband and I were living in Europe during brexit (I'm British, he's an EU Citizen) we had to make the decision to move back a lot earlier than we had planned to the UK as we didn't want to have to go through the pain and huge cost of getting a spousal visa for him (despite us having two children and being in jobs). I also lost rights living in Europe, including being able to buy a property where we were living, and it means should we ever want to return I have to jump through hoops to get a job now as a third country national. It just left us with less choices and a poorer future for our children I also see how badly the services in the UK have been affected by Brexit - particularly in Scotland where I live. Cost has gone up, quality has gone down. |
My personal freedom of movement, which I have enjoyed for the past 20 years has been impacted by Brexit |
Since Brexit, I have experienced empty shop shelves, higher bills/food costs, more red tape, restrictions and delays when travelling abroad, extra duty, taxes and postage when buying from abroad, etc, etc. |
My non-EU step-son who had the status of an EU Family Member, lost that status on Brexit. He has permanent residency in the UK but we cannot safely and securely ever consider him travelling with us to mainland Europe any more as we do not trust the UK Border Control people to let him re-enter without any problems! He is , for all practical purposes, confined to the UK for life, or until he gains naturalisation; this probably will not happen as the process is now too difficult and costly for him! |
